1)      They don’t want her to commit suicide. If she doesn’t answer the door when her mom knocks the first time her mom freaks and barges in. she doesn’t trust her to be alone because she doesn’t want to walk in on Valerie dead.
2)      She didn’t want to transfer because she thought it would be harder. She wouldn’t have any friends at the other school and she didn’t want them to start talking about her or spread rumors when they didn’t really know what went on.
3)      He read Shakespeare because his mom would sometimes forget to pay the electric bill. His grandma would bring over Shakespeare book for him to read.
4)      Detective Panzella bugged her about all those questions because he thought that she was guilty. He thought that she was guilty because the video cameras made Valerie out to be guilty because of the angles. He was trying to make her confess that she was in on it too.
5)      She didn’t know that Nick was going to go on a killing spree. She just thought he was going to yell at Jessica not shoot her. She didn’t know that she was going to kill/shoot everybody on the “list” she just made it to release her anger.

Free Choice 1

One of the books that I have read in the past was The Slow Moon by Elizabeth Cox. I thought it was a good book because I couldn’t put it down. I read this book in high school just to read it because I had nothing else to do. When I read books I put myself in their position and ask myself what I would do if that happened to me. I had a few emotions go through me when reading the slow moon. I was curious, and scared at times throughout the book because the Sophie was just waiting for her boyfriend Crow to come back from the truck and she starts to hear noises and then the next thing you know Sophie was getting raped. I noticed that when something was said and it was important, it was in italics. When I was reading the slow moon I didn’t understand why Crow’s friends would rape his girlfriend? He didn’t do anything to them to deserve it and even if he did Sophie didn’t have to get raped. I think this book contains relevance for the audience reading it because it’s actually interesting, mysterious, somewhat scary, and a love story. I felt bad for Crow because everyone started to hate him because they all thought he raped her because his pants and wallet were found at the scene where Sophie was raped. Crows life was sucking and he didn’t know what to do. When Crow found out who it was he went beat them up. If I was Crow I would have done the same thing. When the book ended I was disappointed because I wanted there to be more!

hate list

The Hate List is by Jennifer Brown. When I’m searching for a good book I usually always look at the title of the book and whatever sounded interesting or good I would pick up and read the back of the book to see what it was about. In reading when we were going through the list of books this book was one of the ones I chose. I chose it because the name looked interesting. The cover says a lot about the book as well as the title of it. The front cover is a picture of a face and in there is a tear drop by the eye. In that tear drop is the title name Hate List. There are bangs in the face of the picture on front and it looks like it could be a girl. That could mean many things. I’m picturing it as a girl and that girl being the main character Valerie Leftman. I think the Hate List for the name of the book is significant because it goes along with what the book is about. The Hate List is a “list” of the people that Valerie and her boyfriend Nick didn’t like. They just imagined hurting them. Well Valerie did. The Hate List being in the tear of the book is significant because it was sad. It was sad and crazy that Nick started what he did. It represents people crying, because of all the blood that was everywhere and all the people that had been killed. It represents her pain that she is going through because of her leg and her boyfriend that she loved was dead. The fantasy became a reality and she was scared, shocked, and sad.

A Child Called "It"

The book “A Child Called “It” is an intense book that can open up anyone’s eyes that reads it. Its hard to believe sometimes that parents actually abuse their children and sometimes get away with it. This book just makes me angry and can also make me cry.I caouldn't put it down because I have to know what the woman does next. When I was reading this book I was shocked I didn’t know what to say or do I was lost at words. It made me so angry and pist-off that I wanted to yell at this woman myself; it also made me sad and cry at times because it was so awful. I didn’t understand why the mother only abused him and not  his other  other brothers. I didn’t get why it was just him. I also didn’t understand why his father didn’t do anything about it like tell the cops, take the boy out of that home, or do something. The author Dave Pelzer made strong points. He explained everything in detail so when I was reading the book I could imagine all of it and when I was done reading it I was still thinking about it. When I was reading “A Child Called It” I always put myself in his position and imagined what I would have done. I know that he was a brave boy. Its not right for any parent to abuse their child AND get away with it. I liked this book a lot because I want to be a social worker and help children like this.
